The FLOW promise
I promise to respect water as a source of life, to be mindful of how I use water, and to preserve our water sources. I am for love of water.
Core Goals
- To facilitate a deeper respect, understanding and appreciation for water in human behaviour
- To unify all sectors by supporting water education and awareness campaign initiatives
- To provide information and demonstrate solutions for current water quality and quantity challenges
- To ensure that each human being has access to clean, safe freshwater in a sustainable manner, which includes adequate wastewater treatment
- To have people take responsibility for their right of access to clean, safe freshwater
Creating conditions conducive to life: Desired Outcomes of FLOW is to
- Use less water:Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
- Stop bottled water consumption. Check the quality of your tap water at www.dwa.gov.za/mywater If you don't trust your water, install filters and maintain these regularly, use re-usable, non-plastic bottles if you have to carry your bottle with you (just like cellphones, we use to be able to go without water between destinations
- Ensure and support better quality wastewater treatment
- Ensure ongoing clean water access in rural and urban environments, as well as adequate wastewater treatment
- Improve the understanding of No Cost, Low Cost and Invest to Save approaches to water management at household and corporate level
The first visible product of the FLOW-WISA collaboration is the
Water Week, held nationally, but specifically in Cape Town, 21-27 March 2011.
